Samsung LN46B550

I had a Samsung DLP which had several problems. Luckily, I received a replacement TV for this old and malfunctioning television. I received this wonderful work of art as a replacement television.

Here is a quick assessment based on my experience.

First, the touch of red is barely seen. Second, it’s extremely easy to setup. If you ask questions about features and use of this television, you won’t have a hard time comprehending the sales person’s answers and instructions.

I ran the THX optimizer and the only thing I had to change was 2 notches on the green level. This television offers at least 20 additional advanced settings that any videophile will adore.

I played a standard DVD and alas, the picture was truly splendid. There were no ghostings, artifacts, or blurriness whatsoever. The blacks are very black while the whites are very white.

I tried hooking the HDMI cable from my computer and netflix through an Xbox. Guess what? The picture is so amazing that I feel like being in the actual game. Though my only 1080p source was the Xbox 360, it works just as well and compatible with everything else. The gaming doesn’t lag or hold up in any way.

To this point, my only complaint is with Anynet. It’s awfully slow. That’s my only problem though. I guess I could overlook that since this TV has compensated that flaw with other awesome features.

In general, I think this is a work of art. Because of this and of Samsung’s other superb models, I am and will be a Samsung customer for all eternity!

This is a great television. It has an amazing picture quality. The red touch of color isn’t too discernible though. For this reason, I hope that Samsung would soon discard the touch of color feature.

Meanwhile, it gave me the best image I’ve ever seen in HDTV history. Though I haven’t seen most of 2009 units, I’m comparing this model to 2008 units.

The average viewer is never going to be disappointed with the picture quality that this TV offers. It has a great contrast, precise colors, superb customizable processing, deep blacks, and a uniform display.

An innovation this year that made this a step higher than 2008 models is its auto-motion plus (AMP) feature that allows you to fine-tune the settings more. AMP is the technology that fills in extra frames so that the display doesn’t appear rough.

This innovation was done since most 2008 owners complained why they couldn’t adjust their AMP to their preference. The 2009 buyers are now given more choices with the new and updated AMP technology.

The sound of this TV is quite flat and doesn’t have much bass. However, since I am connecting my PS3 and DirecTV sound to an Onkyo receiver and energy speaker, this problem didn’t quite matter.

Furthermore, this TV also has a game mode which reduces, if not eliminate the lag when playing games. I tried this feature when I played “Rock Band” and other PS3 games and indeed, I didn’t experience any lag.

I recommend that you use or spend a dollar at most for an HDMI v.1 3b cable. HDMI cables will not give any enhancement or whatsoever in the picture quality so it isn’t worth spending more than what I paid for it at BargainCell.

Do your research and visit Amazon.com if you want a second opinion as well as an explanation.

To put it in brief, though there are several problems, I am well satisfied and pleased with my television.

samsungln40b550Before deciding on which television to buy, I did my own research and sifted through the choices until I ended up with two great televisions, particularly a unit this year and last year’s LN40A550, which surely gave me a hard time to choose.

I consistently compared the two in all aspects; however, their features are considerably identical which even gave me a harder time to decide. After shopping around and finding out that the difference between the prices of the two was only $50, I definitely settled on the newer unit due to its contemporary appearance and lighter mass.

In the reviews I came across, one of the main complaints for last year’s unit was the sound quality. I found it difficult to equate and compare this year’s unit to last year’s but I discovered that this year’s LN40B550 has an impressive sound quality, better than most TV speakers.

The Samsung I recently acquired rendered me quite speechless. With only little adjustments, the picture quality was more than awesome. The display is so elegant with a sleek wet black piano like touch. It also actually looks great even if it is turned off.

The TV not only looks great but it definitely offers more than its great looks to you. It has many features that you will find very useful and lots of options that allow you to customize the picture quality to meet your desires.

In addition to that, you can adjust the way your TV handles the AMP or Auto Motion Plus 240Hz. It can be super smooth when you watch sports and can easily be adjusted on other modes. Watching movies in this television makes it seem as though you are in the movie yourself.

Samsung LN52B750

It took me 8 months to save in money for a new LCD TV. A 15 day research on the best television in the market led me to buy a LN52A750 worth $2000. However, as I was going to get the unit, the sales person informed me that a lot of buyers returned the unit due to its very shiny screen and advised me to buy the LN52630 instead since it has a non-reflective (matte) screen.

The A630 was very dull and boring in comparison to the A750. However, its very glossy display held me from buying it. Fortunately, my wife saw the B750 which was adjacent the original unit we planned to buy. I stared and compared both for about 30 minutes.

I noted that B750 has shiny screen but not as shiny as that of the A750. I inquired about that television and the sales person informed me that it has an anti glare coating and a semi glossy model. It was the perfect model that I was looking for.

Furthermore, the picture quality seemed very vivid, brilliant, and precise. There is also no motion vagueness in any way.
